FAQ
We often get a lot of common questions about our services - see the information below for some quick answers. Is what you’re looking for not listed? If not, please feel free to Contact Us.
+ What is the age range of patients seen at Superkid Rehab?
There is no lower age limit. The upper age limit is approximately 25 years, but this is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
+ Does Superkid Rehab provide allied health services?
No, because we aim to centre care around your location. We work with allied health professionals and general practitioners that are local and appropriate for you, and our model of care specifically supports this.
+ Who provides ongoing rehabilitation care for young adult patients?
Superkid Rehab aims to transfer care to an adult rehabilitation team within two years of the first appointment. The process often takes two years to allow time for clarifying goals, management plans and finding appropriate healthcare providers.
+ What will my appointment cost?
You can request a long (60min) or short (30min) appointment. Since the majority of patients referred to us have complex issues, most require a 60min appointment initially. Please contact us for the fee schedule. A reduced fee is available for Health Care Card holders and siblings of existing patients.
Wherever possible, we utilise a low cost case conferencing model of care. This involves ongoing follow-up via meetings with all providers (eg allied health, school, sport/arts providers). We can organise the meetings and the medical gap fee is usually under $50. There are certain Medicare requirements which must be satisfied, please contact us for more details.
+ Why is there a fee for appointments (a “gap”)?
Medicare provides a payment to doctors per patient service. Some doctors choose to set their fees without an additional cost to the patient, known as “bulk billing”. For appointments in person, Superkid Rehab charges a gap in order to cover the work required outside the appointment time, such as communication and collaboration with the patient’s other healthcare providers, and writing reports.
+ Does NDIS pay for medical services?
No, the NDIS does not cover any medical services.
+ What are the costs associated with botulinum toxin injecting for spasticity?
There is a gap payment for the appointment cost and a small consumables fee. The procedure is bulk-billed (including ultrasound, if needed).
+ Is sedation available for botulinum toxin injecting?
No, sedation is not currently available.
+ Is Superkid Rehab available outside metropolitan areas?
Consultations via videocall are available for people in rural and regional areas, and outside QLD.
+ Does Superkid Rehab manage general paediatric issues?
Many children that require rehabilitation management also have general paediatric needs. Decisions about providers are made collaboratively, driven by a number of individualised factors. We work closely with paediatricians and general practitioners to ensure wholistic care.
+ Is there car parking?
There is free onsite parking at the Fairfield practice. There is parking behind the Cleveland practice (Optimum Movement) and street parking. Please notify the clinic if you have particular mobility requirements.
