FAQ

We often get a lot of common questions about our services - see the information below for some quick answers. Is what you’re looking for not listed? If not, please feel free to Contact Us

+ What is the age range of patients seen at Superkid Rehab?

There is no lower age limit. The upper age limit is approximately 25 years, but this is assessed on a case-by-case basis.

+ Who provides ongoing rehabilitation care for young adult patients?

Superkid Rehab aims to transfer care to an adult rehabilitation team within two years of the first appointment. The process often takes two years to allow time for clarifying goals, management plans and finding appropriate healthcare providers.

+ What will my appointment cost?

Depending on the complexity of the issues, the first appointment will be $280 or $450. After the Medicare rebate, the out of pocket costs are $149.80 or $222.30 respectively. Follow-up appointments are $150 or $220. After the Medicare rebate, the out of pocket costs are $84.80 or $106 respectively. A reduced fee is available for Health Care Card holders. Private health funds may provide an additional rebate.

+ Why is there a fee for appointments (a “gap”)?

Medicare provides a payment to doctors per patient service. Some doctors choose to set their fees without an additional cost to the patient, known as “bulk billing”. For appointments in person, Superkid Rehab charges a gap in order to cover the work required outside the appointment time, such as communication and collaboration with the patient’s other healthcare providers.

+ Does NDIS pay for medical services?

No, the NDIS does not cover any medical services.

+ What are the costs associated with botulinum toxin injecting for spasticity?

There is a gap payment for the appointment cost only. The procedure is bulk-billed.

+ Is sedation available for botulinum toxin injecting?

No, sedation is not currently available. Options are currently being explored and we hope to offer this later in 2019.

+ Is Superkid Rehab available outside Brisbane?

Consultations via online videochat are available for people in rural and regional areas. To be eligible for a Medicare rebate, you must live outside an urban area (contact us for geographic details). Video consultations are bulk-billed.

+ Does Superkid Rehab manage general paediatric issues?

Many children that require rehabilitation management also have general paediatric needs. While there is some overlap between rehabilitation and general paediatric care, it is best for children to have a separate paediatrician for non-rehabilitation issues. We work closely with paediatricians and general practitioners to ensure wholistic care.

+ Is there car parking?

The Rehab+Fitness clinic has 5 car park spaces, with nearby metered street parking. There is ample free parking at Movement Solutions and Optimum Movement. Please notify the clinic if you have particular mobility requirements.
